Pastor's Notes

7/3/2008

Who are your heroes? I think it is so interesting to see how our heroes change throughout our lifetimes. When I was just a little kid watching cartoons every Saturday morning my heroes were Superheroes who hung out in the Hall of Justice. Then when I started watching sports my heroes were athletes. Everyone I knew wanted to be just like Michael Jordan. As I grew up, I realized those athletes weren’t really the greatest role models in the world, and I came to the realization that my life was shaped by people much closer to me. Looking at my life now, my heroes are my dad and two grandfathers. Those are the three men who have taught me the most and had the greatest influence in my life. Who are your heroes?

Sunday as we continue our series My Name is     we are going to be reflecting on how our heroes have influenced us to be the people that we are today. In doing so, we are going to be looking at the relationship between Paul and Timothy. Timothy was Paul’s “son in the faith”. Paul’s life had a profound influence on Timothy, and Sunday we are going to explore some of that influence. If you get a chance read through the book of 2 Timothy. This letter is a very personal one from Paul to Timothy, and it is his last bit of instruction to someone he dearly loves.

Thank God for the heroes that he has placed in our life, and may He allow us to be a hero to someone else.

Next Wednesday the Honduras team will be leaving for their trip. Sunday we will have a time of dedication for them, and we need to be sure to pray for them while they are away. I do hope to see everyone Sunday. If there is anything that I can do for you, please let me know.
